Citation:

1. The two entities: Alpheus and Gennowrath.

The balance of the universe is an immensely complex and obscure phenomenon. It has been believed, through countless generations in the legendary realm of the 10 Magus, that two entities were created, two opposites trying to negate one another for eternity, by some mysterious force responsible for maintaining the balance in the universe, a force known only as the True Balance.

According to the tablets of Alpheus, the Light Father, the most sacred and followed of all religious texts in the Realm, the two beings, or entities, both brothers and sisters at the same time, would be known as Alpheus and Gennowrath. The Second Tablet, 2nd line states (2T, 2L): “The two separate half of a unique whole could not exist as they were. For the World of Man was regulated by certain rules, unbroken by none for instigated by the True Balance itself. And so, Man was to host the Two, for they could not exist in their true form in the limited universe of the Mortal.”

A further reading explains (3T, 5L): “Both Alpheus and Gennowrath chose their champions among the primal humans that walked the Earth. Both were to become great leaders, instructing and teaching their own opposite values, their clashing philosophies.” The 150th tablet explains, in clear terms how both met their ends: “Alpheus, the Seraphim, the Shield of Hope died on the same battlefield has Gennowrath, the Great Corrupter, on the summit of a Mountain later named the Mount of Destiny. Gennowrath died at the end of his blood, cursing Man to his last breath.”

The work of Alpheus, the complete set of 150 stone tablets carved with instructions about the birth of this world, were reproduced and religious empires established their dogma upon those religious texts. On the other hand, followers of Gennowrath were hunted down and the religion banished from the realm.

And so the centuries went by, countless and slowly shaping the Realm, both Alpheus and Gennowrath observing and planning how to make this little world their own…

2. The rise of the Ten Magus.
And so for countless centuries, before the world had a name, most lived their lives by the teachings of Alpheus.

One day, however, following a solar eclipse which lasted ten days, a child was discovered, in a remote village, to possess some unnatural ability. Rumours spread that he could bend the cold weather of his birthplace to his will.

It was the first occurrence of a magical phenomenon since Alpheus and Gennowrath had walked the Earth. People marvelled at such a supernatural ability.

It was not long however that other came forth, all of them about the same age, to display their own different uncanny powers. They all somehow had the ability to control some element of the world, from the destructive power of the flames to the soothing breeze of the wind.

Most inhabitants didn’t know what to make of this. Many were afraid of such magical potential, others saw this as a sign from Alpheus and called the 10 children the Light Disciples.

The “Light Disciples” were requested by the mundane to act as saviors of the world and use their gifts for the good of mankind. In exchange, they requested to rule the common world. Their request was accepted, half in fear and half in hope that they would turn out to change the face of the world for the best. The world was thus named the Realm of the Ten Magus.

As time went by, however, it turned out that, beside their powers, they still share the same human nature as the mundane. The Light Disciples appellation was quickly dropped one day, after one of the now fully grown child used his power to set a whole village on fire.

This was but one event where one of the gifted used his or her ability in a reprehensible way. Their powers were so vast by then that common soldiers did not stand a chance against them. The government consisting of merely ten individuals and only one army to serve them, dissention grew among the world leaders. They all had their own perspective, their own idea as to how to rule the Realm. Within a few years, conflicts and rancour grew among the council of the Ten and war between its members was declared.

The whole world was plunged in Chaos then. It took about a decade before each one of the Magi secluded themselves in one part of the world which they established as their own.

Our story takes place after the first occurrences of war. Although some citizens of the Realm still believe in the Alpheus, the Light Father, many have started to devote their faith to one of the Magus, which now occupy the role of Gods in the Realm. Gennowrath is now no more than a distant legend, a fairy tale to scare younglings and the cult of Alpheus forbidden and shunned upon by the Ten Magus.

Although his name is scarcely spoken, some believe that Gennowrath’s hold on the Realm, subtle, is more powerful than ever before.

@UG:

Messi,

@Lufia;:

Messi.

Tu me feras part de tes commentaires, critiques, impressions etc...

Citation:

Introduction
Farm work had never been your forte. You quickly earned a reputation for being a head in the clouds, always daydreaming about fantastic adventures and of achieving great deeds that would turn your name into legends. You would stare in awe and envy as travelers and other adventurers would walk by your field, towards the city, with no doubt some perilous task at hand. Some would share rumors and hearsays with you and you would quickly boast to your friends about legends from distant lands which you took great pride in telling, adding details of your own to make them more “interesting”.

Years went by and your parents became more and more discouraged with your skills has a farmer and your interest for the land grew dimmer and dimmer.

A few days after you were 18, seeing that you would never take over the family farm, your father sent you to the Brotherhood of the Sacred Sun, your local temple and there you studied the teachings of Alpheus, the Light Father and his many tablets. You would’ve never thought missing your farming days, but as you lay in front of your tablet, learning the Scriptures by heart and writing essays on the importance of Virtues, you did!

A few years later your small county was shaken by the news of war. Weapons had hardly been manufactured anymore for the last century, considering that violence was nothing but a distant nightmare. Everywhere in your small county of Holy Fields, blacksmiths sprouted, fields were reaped for provisions for the upcoming war. From the peaceful studies of human ethics, you were taught about the Dark Magic of the Ten Magus.

Everything changed in the temple, even the lectures. You were taught that Magic was unreliable and a tool of destruction. Sorcery, the use of Magic through unholy rituals was not to be tolerated and annihilated. Your tutors changed, becoming more and more extremists.

Fortunately for you, your daydreaming somehow protected you from the propaganda. Before long, however, your Brothers were convinced without a doubt about the Evil of Magic and the necessity of it’s destruction in the world.

You were both surprised, anxious and excited when you were told, in one evening lecture that tomorrow would begin your military training. You were issued a uniform, along with a plain but sturdy sword, marked with a flaring sun, the symbol of Alpheus. Your motivation, which had been lacking all your life, was somehow intensely focused in your fencing lessons, and you quickly became among the best among your fellow brothers. Your talent with the sword and your lack of conviction about the necessity of the destruction of the magical, quickly made you somehow of an outcast.

Finally, the day you had been dreading came. On a rainy and cold autumn day, it was announced that you were leaving for the East at noon. You were to be part of the great Inquisition, a military operation spread world wide dedicated to one thing: the Search and Destruction of Sorcery and its followers. You were apparently at war with the newly appointed ruler of the nearby lands; Myrgimoon, the Frigid King, one of the Ten Magus!

Having only a few hours before noon. You quickly packed your things, which didn't come to much; Your trusty sword, your only companion, hanging on a leather belt in it’s scabbard. A handful of Golden Suns and Silver moons, which you stuffed into your pouch (5 GS and 10 SM). Your holy symbol of Alpheus (a stylized flaring sun with an staring eye in the middle) and finally your father’s leather backpack, which you used to pack your things when you left the farm so many years ago.

You quickly run to your home, bidding tearful farewells to your parents and return to the temple, where after a rather passionate but unconvincing speech you are led towards the East, under the pouring rain.

Oh la confusion it's / its ! *scrogneugneu*
